Product Description
The threads of British connectors are straight and parallel, and their sealing does not rely on the threads themselves. Since the threads are parallel, the sealing function is undertaken by a Washer installed inside the Female. When the male head and the female head are tightened, the end face of the male head will squeeze the rubber ring inside the female head, thus forming a water-tight seal. This rubber ring is the key to sealing the entire joint and must be inspected and replaced regularly.
The joint is designed with two or three protruding "ears" or flat areas. This is designed to work in conjunction with a dedicated Spanner wrench, enabling firefighters to quickly and forcefully tighten or remove joints, even when wearing gloves or in low light conditions.
Although it needs to be rotated, due to the presence of lugs and a special wrench, its connection speed is very fast, and thus it is also regarded as a quick connector.
