Product Description

UL/FM Approved Waterflow Detector (often called a waterflow switch) is a mechanical-electrical device installed on a fire sprinkler pipe. Its sole purpose is to detect a minimum rate of water flow and send an electrical signal to the fire alarm control panel (FACP), which then initiates the building's fire alarm sequence (horns, strobes, and notification to monitoring services).

The product has simultaneously obtained UL and FM dual certifications, which means it meets the highest levels of safety, performance and reliability standards, and is a symbol of high quality.

There are different types of water flow indicators including impeller, turbine and electromagnetic flowmeters.Paddlewheel flow indicators use a rotating paddle wheel to measure the flow of water, while turbine flow indicators use a rotating turbine to measure flow. Electromagnetic flowmeters, on the other hand, use electromagnetic sensors to measure the flow of conductive liquids such as water.

Features

• Real-time monitoring: 24/7 uninterrupted monitoring of water levels in fire water tanks, water tanks and other water storage facilities.

• Fault alarm: When the water level drops to the preset "dangerous" or "fault" level, a local audible and visual alarm will be triggered immediately.

• Remote signal transmission: Simultaneously send a passive dry contact signal to the building's fire alarm control center or building monitoring system, and display a clear fault information of "lack of fire water source" on the control panel, reminding the management personnel to handle it in a timely manner.

• Prevent misoperation: Ensure that the fire pump does not start in an "idling" state to protect the water pump from damage.

Q：What's the difference between it and the ordinary one?

A：The main difference lies in certification. UL/ FM-certified fire water source detectors have undergone rigorous fire simulation tests, environmental durability tests and reliability evaluations to ensure 100% reliable operation in extreme emergencies such as fires. Ordinary industrial liquid level gauges do not have this qualification.

Q：After installing this detector, is it still necessary to manually inspect the water tank?

A：It cannot completely replace regular manual inspections. Manual inspection can also detect problems such as water quality and structural integrity. However, the detector provides continuous and real-time water level monitoring, which is the most effective means to prevent water shortage caused by sudden leakage or abnormal water usage.

Q：Is the signal directly connected to the fire alarm system?

A：Yes. It is usually connected to the fire alarm circuit through a Monitor Module and displayed on the alarm host as a Supervisory Signal rather than a fire alarm signal to distinguish it from the actual fire that occurs.
