Product Description
A Flanged Y Strainer is a mechanical device used to remove and capture solid debris (like scale, rust, sediment, and other particles) from flowing liquids in a pipeline. Its purpose is to protect downstream equipment—such as pumps, valves, meters, traps, and nozzles—from damage, clogging, or reduced efficiency caused by this debris.
The "Y" describes its shape, which resembles the letter Y, allowing for a more compact design and efficient straining area. The "Flanged" refers to its connection type: it has flanged ends that bolt directly to matching flanges in the piping system.
The working principle lies in that the fluid enters the filter from the inlet and flows through the filter screen. Impurities larger than the mesh size are intercepted on the inner wall of the filter screen. Clean fluid passes through the filter screen, flows out from the outlet, and continues to flow towards equipment such as valves, pumps, instruments, and heat exchangers. With use, impurities gradually accumulate, and it is necessary to open the plug regularly for drainage and cleaning.
